Leaving the Scene of Personal Injury Accident
July 05, 2023

The Mercer County Crime Stoppers are currently seeking information about a hit and run accident involving a pedestrian. 
 
On Wednesday July 5th 2023 at approximately 11:53 a.m., the Aledo Police Department responded to a report of this accident. The driver of the accident fled the scene. 
 
The vehicle was reported to be a red in color, early 2000's Chevy Silverado with a regular cab. The driver was described as a white male wearing a hat.
 
The accident occurred in the 600 block of NW 2nd Street Aledo. The vehicle was last seen westbound from 2nd Street in Aledo.

Attempt to Identify
April 15, 2023

The Mercer County Crime Stoppers are attempting to identify the individuals pictured below. 
 
On April 12th 2023 at approximately 4:30 p.m. a Kuboto Mini Excavator was taken from a property on Camp Creek Road near Sherrard IL. 
 
In the pictures you can see one subject inside the excavator and another individual waking around. Crime Stoppers is attempting to identify these subjects as well as the owner of the white Truck and trailer also shown in the pictures below.

The Mercer County Crime Stoppers are currently seeking information regarding the theft of street signs in the Fyre Lake area. 
 
In Late November it was reported that several street signs and posts were taken from Fyre Lake. These signs have not been located or returned.

Car Thefts and Burglaries
July 07, 2021

The Mercer County Crime Stoppers are currently seeking information regarding the recent vehicle thefts and stolen vehicles in our area. 
 
On June 14th 2021 it is believed that several subjects came to the Sherrard area committing several car burglaries and taking two vehicles. On July 2nd 2021 it is believed that these same individuals or atleast some of the same group committed several more car burglaries in both Aledo and Viola. During this time atleast 4 cars were stolen. 
 
Included with this post are some surveillance photos that have been provided to the Aledo Police Department. Please note that some of the quality is poor, we understand. Please pay special attention to the clothing and if you recognize these subjects or the clothing please report it by submitting a tip here on our website or by calling our tipline at 309-582-3500.. Lets work together to get this information out and solve these crimes. 
 
Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of the individuals involved in these crimes.

On March 18th 2021 it was discovered that someone had entered the Greene Township Building located on State Hwy 17 east of Viola. 
 
Several tools including chainsaws and other items were taken.

Burglary

The Mercer County Crime Stoppers are currently seeking information about a series of burglaries to campers located at the Shady Lakes Campground south of New Windsor. 
 
On the evening of February 17th 2020 the Mercer County Sheriff's Department took numerous reports of burglaries to campers. Several televisions were taken during the burglaries as well as other items.
